17 Delhi Bound Flights Asked to Land in Jaipur Due to Thick Fog
Close to 17 flights to Delhi, which included two of them flying internationally, were asked to land in Jaipur instead because of poor visibility due to thick fog at the Delhi airport. Sanganer airport in Jaipur played host to hundreds of travelers, who were on these flights to the Indian capital city, until the airlines operators made alternative arrangements to get them to their destination. Air India, which operated five of the stranded flights, and Kingfisher, SpiceJet and Jet Airways which operated three each and GoAir and Indigo with one flight each were the operators that bore the brunt of the poor weather in Delhi.
RK Singh, director to the airport in Jaipur, said that at 6am, the first flight bound to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur airport. In the next five hours, 16 other flights were also asked to take the same route. It was only at 11.30am, when the ATC (Air Traffic Control) gave the permission to proceed to the Delhi airport, these flights left to their intended destination from Jaipur. |
